Introduction to STEM

STEM is better known as the combination of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It is revolutionizing the way students are taught across the world.

However, STEM is so much more than just the acronym of these four disciplines of education. It is a skillset for the students rather than just content. STEM uses logic to creatively solve problems. It reduces the fear of failure and builds the students’ confidence and empowers them.

In the 21st century, every job requires STEM skills. So, whether it is science, history or music, STEM is vital for providing our students with a bright future.STEM focuses on collaboration, creativity, communication, inquiry, problem solving and research.

About ‘Nepal EduSTEM’

The world is developing fast in terms of technology and science, Nepal is also in need of moving towards modernizing systems of education by updating itself in the field of learning and technology to produce globally competent human resource. As an effort to empower students and to promote new learning pedagogy in the context of Nepal, the concept of STEM has been initiated.

Nepal EduSTEM is an event and a platform for students, teachers, concerned stakeholders and both the governmental and private schools to become better acquainted about STEM education concept and practices. This event offers the detailed information about what STEM education is, why it is necessary, how it differs from the traditional educational practices, how it can be beneficial for individual students, the entire school and the nation as a whole and how it can be implemented in different schools.

The major focus of Nepal EduSTEM is to create awareness about STEM education amongst the teachers, students and the schools and to give them firsthand knowledge on how it has been implemented successfully around the world and promote discussion about it with their peers and the schools.

We are targeting to bring radical changes in the teaching and learning pedagogy of Nepalese education system by getting everyone on board regarding the importance of STEM education practices.

STEM education curriculum has to be structured. In Nepal, it would focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM incorporates these principles into a cohesive paradigm that encourages motivation, engagement and employs real world applications. This would help to generate more innovators in the country.

Objectives of the seminar

The objective of this seminar is to get commitment about theimplementation of STEM amongst the mainstream education experts and scholars in Nepal.

We also plan on motivating the actual students to innovate, explore and experiment the things that they have learnt so that they can better understand the real-world applications and how the world actually runs.

The colleagues at the event and the external partners could help them solve it with better solutions. The students are curious about many things at their age and we hope to answer their curiosities with the interaction with the industry experts and coaches that we will be bringing in.
